Breakwater Beach, Seaside Heights
This hot spot is a state-of-the-art water park right here in Seaside Heights offering the largest interactive play area in the region! So no doubt, they have something for everyone. A fave is the Family Play Section, a totally interactive multi-level area for everyone from 3 to 103. And thrill seekers can take a ride down their water slides for an exciting experience with each twist and turn. So grab your sunscreen and bathing suit and get ready for a splashtacular time!
Jersey Shore Pirates, Brick
Ahoy Maties! Hop aboard The Sea Gypsy for a swashbuckling pirate adventure on the Metedeconk River. With many daily sailings to choose from, it’s a fun outdoor activity for the whole fam complete with sunken treasure, water canons, and enemy pirates, arrrghh! Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson
Six Flags Great Adventure has something for everyone in the family, even the smaller tykes in the gang. The expansive amusement park has many sections that include various roller coasters, swings, flumes, and more. A must-do for the summer of 2013 is the brand new Wild Safari Off Road Adventure. And with the summer heat happening, plan an afternoon next door at Hurricane Harbor Water Park. Packages are available to hop from park to park.
Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, Point Pleasant
The boardwalk is back and better than ever post-Sandy! Whether you are playing a round of mini golf, taking some swings in the batting cages, or playing some classic arcade games, Jenkinson’s will keep the whole family amused. And new for 2013 is a 7D Interactive Experience at the South Beach Arcade. Every night in the summer brings different family fun to the boardwalk, be it Thursday night Fireworks, Friday night family movies on the beach, Monday night Kiddie Shows, Wednesday nights with Radio Disney, hermit crab races and more.
iPlay America, Freehold
Beat the summer heat and head indoors for some fun. Take a ride out to Freehold to a high-end, state-of-the-art family entertainment center. Step inside to a cityscape where you will feel like you are outdoors as you take a leisurely stroll through the ‘boardwalk’. Attractions include the IPA speedway go kart track, a 4-D theater, two-level laser tag, bumper cars, mini bowling lanes, over 200 modern video games, boardwalk rides and games, and even a toddler area.
Kid Cruise Series, Circle Line
Take an NYC cruise this summer the gang will not likely forget, featuring a range of picturesque city views and a fun learning experience too. Circle Line cruises is now offering a Kids Series, which features live music performances, a chance to snap a pic with the Statue of Liberty, kid-friendly interactive tour guides (oh, and let’s not forget prizes & giveaways too–hooray). Some of the upcoming themes for this summer are Anna Banana Band, Berenstain Bears & special appearances from the orphan cast of Annie the Musical, Radio Disney Junior and more. Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport
Can you believe, Monmouth Park’s long and storied history dates back to 1870 when the track opened in Monmouth County? And this racetrack is not just for Mom & Dad, they have a ton of family fun! Kids pretty much rule the place every Sunday during the summer, as it is Family Fun Day. Tiny tykes enjoy mini golf, pony rides, face painters, clowns who make balloon animals, a bounce house and live music (and all these activities are FREE). Field Station Dinosaurs, Secaucus
You know your kids love dinosaurs. And if you haven’t been to Field Station: Dinosaurs yet, add a visit here to your list as well. Your kids can wander through winding paths and encounter a T-Rex, a Stegosaurus, a 90-foot long Argentinosaurus and many others, all with eyes blinking, tails wagging, and mouths roaring! The Field Station allows you to take a trip 90 million years back in time, and features games, workshops, shows, and even a fossil dig site.
New York Renaissance Faire, Tuxedo Park, NY
What could be better than taking your kids back in time to the days of knights, princesses, jousts and duels? The Renaissance Faire is full of non-stop activity, featuring 100 performances and 100 craftspeople on 65 acres at Tuxedo Park, NY. And if all that is not enough, there are games and rides, too. Not your everyday games of course. We’re talking archery, knife throwing, axe throwing, loading cannons and more. Take a ride on a dragon swing or hope on the carousel, it’s all part of the fair fare. Taking place now through September 22, this would make a great day trip for the weekend.
