Seaside Heights landmarks Casino Pier and waterpark Breakwater Beach have new projects underway, ready to thrill locals and tourists this summer.
Casino Pier, 800 Ocean Terrace, will create a brand new, 36-hole, multilevel mountain miniature golf course, according to a news release. Guests will be able to enjoy waterfalls, challenging holes and "a fun layout," the release states. It will be located on the corner of Ocean Terrace and Sherman Avenue, and is replacing the originally Dockside Grill. A new food and beverage location with a seashore town-themed design will be located in the center of the waterpark.
Also, the Seaside Speedway Go-Kart track is expanding this year to include a new pit location and a larger track, which "will allow guests added twists and turns to enhance their racing ability and test their driving skills," according to the release.
The release states that Casino Pier is working with state and local authorities in order to obtain approvals for expansion on the north end of the existing pier on the boardwalk. Demolition and building has begun.
"The new expansion will incorporate the area for a new roller coaster as well as a Ferris wheel and is in the planning stages for a 2016 opening," the release states. "A new Double Shot Drop Tower will be added to the area of the present north entrance to Casino Pier and opening in spring of 2015."
Waterpark Breakwater Beach, also 800 Ocean Terrace, is adding a wave pool, with artificially generated waves, and two slides. A waterfall area — the one that is part of the new mountain miniature golf course — will be integrated into the wave pool, according to the release.
